Kidepo National Park
Kidepo, with an area of 1344 sqkm, is one of the most spectacular parks in Uganda. In the vast panorama from the verandah of the park's Apoka Rest Camp, Kidepo is the most remote park in Uganda, it is easily the most tranquil, tucked into the corner of Uganda's border with Sudan and Kenya. The park has spectacular mountains and savannah landscape. The Napore Nyangea Range is located to the west of the camp and the Natera Hills to the East. In the north you can see the 236 meter high peak of Mt. Lotukei.

It is 840km from Kampala to Kidepo by road. The journey takes a day or two through a variety of physical features and ends up in the total wilderness of Karamoja. There is also an airstrip near Apoka. Chartered light aircraft can be arranged through tour operators in Kampala .

Moroto
Moroto is bordered by the Republic of Kenya in the east, Mbale and Kapchorwa in the south, Katakwi in the west and Kotido in the north.

Mbale
Mbale is located near the eastern border with Kenya, and is situated at the base of Mount Elgon, which provides a picturesque backdrop for this agriculturally based town. Coffee and cotton are two of the main cash crops, but a wide variety of other agricultural products are grown. Seven languages can be heard in Mbale, with Lugisu being the most prominent.

The town of Mbale is the headquarters for the District of Mbale, and is the third largest town in Uganda. It is reportedly to have a population of over 100,000 people.

Kitgum
Kitgum is located in northern Uganda between longitudes 32E - 34E and latitudes 2N - 4N. It borders the sudan in the north, Kotido district in the east, Lira district in the south, Apac district in the south south west and Gulu district in the west.

Climate

The bulk of Uganda enjoys a tropical climate that averages 26ºC during the day and 16ºC at night. The warmest months of the year are from December to February when the daytime range is 27 to 29ºC.

The rainy seasons in the south are from April to May and October to November, the wettest month being April. In the north the wet season is from April to October and the dry season is from November to March.
